On this week’s episode of Product Love, I sat down with Anabela Cesario, Director of Product Operations at Outsystems. Outsystems is a low-code platform that provides tools for companies to develop, deploy, and manage omnichannel enterprise applications.

When Outsystems was in a hyper-growth stage, the product team had to improve its efficiency. The PM team was growing, and they needed data and processes in place to support product strategic decisions.

For example, prior to the product operations team — each product manager had their own spreadsheet where they would prioritize their backlog, and collect feedback. But that was obviously a time-consuming and error-prone process.

I asked Anabela for advice on starting a product operations practice, and she shared that it was important to focus on impacts, over outcomes. If you focus on impact, you’ll be able to solve the main problems and your stakeholders will recognize your impact.
